About the University of Bologna and Scholarship

In Bologna, Italy, there is a public research institution known as the University of Bologna (Italian: Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, UNIBO). The oldest university still in existence in the world and the first college or university to provide degrees, it was established in 1088 by a guild of organized students (studiorum). The term “universitas” was created at the time of its founding. After La Sapienza in Rome, it has more than 90,000 students, making it Italy’s second-largest university.

The University of Bologna was placed 166th overall and 71st (first in Italy) in the 2022 QS World University Rankings based on academic reputation. It was ranked 84th out of the top 100 institutions in the world for graduate employability in another study conducted by the same business.

With more than 280 options for professional training growth, the University of Bologna in partnership with NRRP provides PhD scholarships to overseas students. The Ph.D. student will be compensated by the scholarship, which is a financial perk. It does not obligate you to sign an employment contract with the company.

The three-year Ph.D. fellowship has a gross value of €69,991 and a suggested net stipend of around €1,200 for each month. Additionally, there is a budget of around €5,000 for each Ph.D. student’s research-related costs over three years, as well as an additional €600 per month for the six months they spend studying abroad.

Students who complete the Ph.D. program are given the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out excellent research and pursue advanced professional career trajectories, not only in academic institutions but also in the public and private sectors. Additionally, while on placement at a company and abroad, Ph.D. candidates will spend time performing research and obtaining training.

Students will learn how to perform innovative, creative, and autonomous research in a specific environment through the Ph.D. program. Along with mastering their specialization, they will gain useful transferrable abilities including the ability to handle unanticipated events, work cooperatively with others, solve complicated issues, and effectively explain their discoveries. Businesses, the industrial and service industries, as well as the governmental sector, place a high emphasis on these fundamental characteristics.
