Victoria University of Wellington is now accepting applications for its partially funded Tongarewa Scholarship.
About the Victoria University of Wellington and Scholarship
The monarch’s name was bestowed upon Victoria University of Wellington, which had previously been known as Victoria University College, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the monarch’s coronation. The college was formerly known as Victoria University College, but once the University of New Zealand ceased to exist in 1961, Victoria (or “Vic”) changed its name to Victoria University of Wellington and began conferring degrees.
The Tongarewa Scholarships recognize the University’s commitment to the international student population. We provide these scholarships to international students each year in a range of subject areas. The tuition for one year will be partially covered by this fee-based award. A postgraduate degree program or the first year of an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington are also options for applicants.
Selection criteria for scholarships include academic achievement. The tuition payments made by them will be counted against their enrollment in classes the following year. Shortlisted candidates can be requested to provide further information to support their applications. Scholarship winners are guaranteed an offer of a seat in one of the school’s Halls of Residence as long as a housing application is filed to University Accommodation Wellington before the deadline.
These are only a portion of the fees. These scholarships must be applied to the recipient(s)’ tuition costs around two weeks into the trimester or after the latest withdrawal deadline for the courses to which the recipient(s) has been admitted.
