The public research institution known as the University of Queensland (UQ, or Queensland University) is principally situated in Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. The Sir Thomas McIlwraith Engineering Scholarship was created as a memorial to the Honourable Sir Thomas McIlwraith, KCMG, LLD, who served as Queensland’s third premier and in honor of his long and valuable service to the Colony as well as his visionary and inclusive spirit of statesmanship in the interests of not only Queensland but of Australasia and the Empire as a whole.

Eligibility Criteria for Sir Thomas McIlwraith Engineering Scholarship

Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Sir Thomas McIlwraith Engineering Scholarship at the University of Queensland:

  • are enrolled full-time in one of the following approved programs
  • have completed at least 48 but no more than 52 units toward an approved program:
  1. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  2. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/ Master of Engineering
  3. A dual engineering program
