Located in Elephant and Castle, London, London South Bank University (LSBU) is a public institution. Its headquarters are in the London Borough of Southwark, close to the River Thames’ South Bank, from whence it derives its name. The Borough Polytechnic Institute, which was established in 1892, was given university status in 1992 as a result of the Further and Higher Education Act of 1992.

Since changing its name to London South Bank University (LSBU) in September 2003, the university has opened several new centers, including the School of Health and Social Care, the Centre for Efficient and Renewable Energy in Buildings (CEREB), a new Student Center, an Enterprise Center, and a new media center called Elephant Studios. 16,840 students attend the institution, and 1,700 work there.

For legal students, The Guardian ranked LSBU as equal to 13th. London South Bank University has 70% of British students are city residents. Students predominantly come from the East London Borough of Newham as well as the South London Boroughs of Southwark, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Croydon. Over 3,000 students from the EU and other international students from more than 130 countries make up 12% of foreign-born students. Over 80% of the student body is regarded as mature (21 or older when they start their course), and 56% of students are members of racial or ethnic minorities.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship Program at London South Bank University (LSBU) aims to provide significant financial assistance to overseas students who intend to pursue their Postgraduate studies at the University. Either full- or part-time study is possible. The total payment for courses completed over more than one year will be prorated and will not exceed £3,000 in total.
