Te Whare Wnanga o tkou is the Maori name for the University of Otago, a public research collegiate university with its main campus in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. One of the oldest universities in Oceania and the first in New Zealand, Otago University, was founded in 1869.

New Zealand’s longest-running student publication is Critic, published by the university.

The title “John Edmond Postgraduate Scholars of the University of Otago” must appear below the author’s name on any thesis summarizing the findings of the scholar’s study.

When to Apply
Applications for Research Master’s scholarships should be submitted in one of two ways:
- You will receive an alert in your eVision portal after applying for admission (if the degree is by thesis only, or if the thesis will start right away) inviting you to apply for a scholarship;
- just before the thesis component is about to begin (typically at the start of the second year for a master’s degree by papers and thesis), you will receive an alert in your eVision portal after enrolling in your thesis paper.
