Application is now open for the ETH Zurich Postdoctoral Fellowships. Interested applicants are encouraged to send their applications in before the deadline date.

About ETH Zurich and Fellowship

A quick history of more than 150 years of ETH Zurich was founded in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnic School and has always been a national educational hub with a global reputation that draws students from all over the world.

New postdoctoral researchers at ETH Zurich are supported by the ETH Fellows Postdoctoral Fellowship program. The initiative aims to support young researchers who have already shown scientific brilliance in the early stages of their careers.

The potential host, must be a professor at ETH Zurich and be prepared to serve as the fellow’s mentor, and the candidate must apply jointly. In each evaluation phase, a professor may only submit one applicant. The host (group) and the ETH Fellow must exhibit strong synergy. Since the fellowships are designed to provide early support for achieving academic independence, candidates who put forth their projects will be given preference. Candidates must develop their ideas, write the application themselves, and the mentor and applicant did not work closely together before the fellowship.

An ETH Fellowship has a two-year limit and cannot be extended. There are a certain number of fellowships available each year, making the fellowship competitive. In the most recent rounds, the success rate was around 25%. All candidates, regardless of gender or background, are highly urged to apply. The institution keep an eye on success rates to prevent biases.
