Public research university Flinders University has 11 sites across South Australia and the Northern Territory in addition to its main campus in Adelaide, South Australia. In honor of the British sailor who, in the early 19th century, surveyed and documented the coasts of Australia and South Australia, it was founded in 1966 and given the name Matthew Flinders.

The Connellan Airways Trust Diabetes Management and Education Scholarship was created to help pay for postgraduate studies in primary health care (Diabetes Management and Education) for students who live in rural and remote areas. It is expected that the chosen candidate would show a dedication to working in the Northern Territory.

Connellan Airways Trust Diabetes Management and Education Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for Connellan Airways Trust Diabetes Management and Education Scholarship at Flinders University:
- enrolling in Flinders University’s Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care (Diabetes Management and Education);
- being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or possessor of a permanent humanitarian visa;
- working or residing in an ASGS Remoteness Areas RA4 remote or RA5 very remote area;
- not be awarded another scholarship of a comparable nature.
Selection Criteria
- All qualified candidates are urged to apply, but existing Northern Territory residents—students who have been there for at least five years—will receive preference.
- The distance from the applicant’s permanent home address may also be taken into consideration.
- The scholarship will be given based on how well the applicant can show their dedication to finding employment in the Northern Territory.

The Flinders University Student System should be used to submit applications. For more information and to apply, log in and go to the My Scholarships tab. You can either use the phrase “Diabetes” to search for the Connellan Airways Trust Diabetes Management and Education Scholarship application form. You will be evaluated using the information in the Student System, so please make sure all of your personal information is current.
The application procedure will require the following supporting documentation. Your name and address must be shown as evidence, and examples of acceptable proof include:
- Tenancy Agreement
- Driver’s License
- Evidence of Age Card
- Bank Statement
- Utility Bill
- Electoral enrolment card
- You must also submit a statement stating your will to work in the Northern Territory.
