(a) $32,500 for full-time study mode, which is currently tax-free;
(b) $16,250 for part-time study mode, which is currently taxable. After the full-time base rate hits $32,500 per year, the yearly stipend rates will mirror the base RTP stipend rate and will then be adjusted.

Eligibility Criteria Australian Government Research Training Program Stipends (AGTPS) Scholarship
Applicants are advised to meet the following conditions to be eligible for the Australian Government Research Training Program Stipends (AGTPS) Scholarship at the University Of Technology Sydney:
- Be pursuing a higher degree by research (HDR) at UTS during the year of the RTP Stipend;
- Not be receiving a comparable award, stipend, or salary that provides a benefit of more than 75% of the RTP Scholarship stipend rate for pursuing the HDR. The 75% criterion does not apply to earnings from sources unrelated to the field of study.
Note: Applicants must make sure that their application is finished and includes all necessary supporting materials before the applicable application date. Late and incomplete applications won’t be taken into account.
Selection Criteria
Students who match the criteria will have their applications evaluated competitively based on a scoring methodology that takes into account:
- the academic standing of the candidate;
- study and other of the applicant’s pertinent experiences;
- the applicant’s list of publications;
- the proposed project’s applicability to the University’s research strengths.

Applications for Research Session 1 – 2024 are due on October 15, 2023. For prospective students, there is no separate application form for RTPS scholarships. You are eligible for consideration for all connected scholarships, including RES, by completing just one form.

By the applicable application deadline, applicants must submit their full application. An incomplete application won’t be taken into account.
Current Students: Please submit a GRS Deferral and Scholarship Application form by the time specified to be considered for a scholarship.
