They honored their 100th birthday in 2019 as well as the turning points that shaped the company they are today.
Women make up around 25% of the workforce in the aerospace sector globally. Zonta International provides the Amelia Earhart Fellowship to uphold its purpose of ensuring that women have equitable access to all resources and representation in positions of decision-making.
In 1938, the Amelia Earhart Fellowship was created in recognition of the famous aviator and Zontian. Up to 30 women pursuing Ph.D. or postdoctoral degrees in aerospace engineering and space sciences are given the US$10,000 Fellowship each year. Any institution or university that offers recognized post-graduate courses and degrees in these subjects may utilize it.
Zonta has given 1,734 Amelia Earhart Fellowships worth more than $11.6 million to 1,305 women from 77 different countries since the program’s start in 1938.
